Assessing the Situation

Does your loved one need care?

It is no surprise that with age, seniors often experience increased limitations, the loss of certain abilities and require more assistance with daily living activities. But how can you tell when they have reached the point where it is no longer safe for them to be on their own? For a list of factors that should be assessed in determining if your loved one may need additional care, click here.

Caregiver, do you need help?

The pressures of caregiving can often lead to caregiver burnout. Caregiver burnout is a state of physical, emotional and mental exhaustion that may be accompanied by a shift in attitude from positive and caring to negative and unconcerned. Burnout can occur when caregivers do not get the help they need, or if they try to do more than they can - either physically or financially. Caregivers who are “burned out” may experience fatigue, stress, anxiety and depression. Many caregivers also feel guilty if they spend time on themselves rather than on their ill or elderly loved ones. To assess whether you may need assistance in caring for your loved one, click here.
