Three CommCare Skilled Nursing and Rehab Centers Earn 2018 National Silver Quality Award: Three of 11 2018 Louisiana Recipients

(Louisiana) – Old Jefferson Community Care Center in Baton Rouge, Oak Haven Community Care Center in Center Point and Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center in Mansura have been recognized as 2018 recipients of the Silver – Achievement in Quality Award by American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living. The award is the second of three distinctions possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, which spotlights providers across the nation that have demonstrated their dedication to improving quality of care for residents and patients in long term and post-acute care.

“To earn the Bronze Quality Award we had to demonstrate that we had systems in place to measure baseline performance, tools and a process to improve and a system to measure improvement,” explained Monique Brouillette, administrator of Oak Haven Community Care Center. “At the Silver level we continue to learn and develop effective approaches that help improve performance and health care outcomes.”

Rebecca Gauthier, RN, LNFA, who worked with the team at Riviere de Soleil as administrator and has since been promoted to CommCare’s VP of Clinical Services agreed. “The Silver guidelines are based on the Baldrige Health Care Criteria for Performance Excellence. In addition to the Organizational Profile, recipients must exhibit a thorough assessment of their systematic approaches and the deployment of these approaches,” she explained.

Old Jefferson administrator, Howard Sadler agreed, “When we began our journey to improve quality of care and life, we researched this approach and believe that following this program is the most effective, long term path to continuous quality improvement.”

AHCA/NCAL’s National Quality Award Program challenges providers to achieve performance excellence through three progressive levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold. At the Silver level, recipients develop and demonstrate effective approaches that help improve organizational performance and health care outcomes.

“This year’s Silver award recipients are positioned well to accomplish even better outcomes as they progress in their quality journey,” said Alana Wolfe, Chair of the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers. “I commend Oak Haven Community Care Center and Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center on this outstanding achievement.”

As a 2018 recipient of the Silver award they may now advance in further developing comprehensive approaches that meet the criteria required for the Gold – Excellence in Quality Award.

The awards will be presented to honorees during AHCA/NCAL’s 69th Annual Convention & Expo in San Diego, California, October 7-10, 2018.
